An individual who laced candy with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offences against two boys both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at the location in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail before a further hearing on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said objects including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained the man continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member notified the police once more.
She explained Ruben then played the "candy game" in a room of five youngsters.
