Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
